We're seeking an Estimator with similar values who can put his or her expertise to work. The individual in this role will report to the Director of Contracting while working closely with our Estimator/Project Managers to ensure all estimates for upcoming projects are taken care of. Location of this position is flexible throughout the Midwest or Southeast Regions. However, an advantage will be given to an applicant that lives in the SE region.

The Estimator's main objective is to organize and estimate upcoming projects.

General responsibilities include:

  • Order and request from designers estimating documents for potential projects to bid.
  • Create master schedule for projects on hand and upcoming projects to bid.
  • Assist and train others in bid package set up, bid bond set up, and review.
  • Review bid package for bonding needs, DBE requirements (as needed), and various other needs associated with turning in a qualified bid. Verify all items are setup properly prior to bid date.
  • Read contract specifications plans to gain knowledge of projects.
  • Analyze and review the potential project as necessary to identify and determine project conditions/risks.
  • Coordinate or perform quantity take-offs from AutoCAD, Adobe, and other take-off software.
  • Coordinate or perform solicitation of pricing from suppliers, manufacturers, and subcontractors to build the estimate.
  • Review and compare bids with Estimator/Project Managers.
  • Complete an accurate estimate on time as required by the project while collaborating with the Estimator/Project Manager assigned to the project.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings for projects when needed.

Skills and requirements necessary for success in this role:

  • Detailed working knowledge of the construction industry and estimating/contract management practices.
  • Knowledge of construction operations including materials, production tracking, project budgets and overhead analysis.
    Thorough understanding of construction contract specifications and documents including reading plans and performing quantity take-offs.
  • Detailed working knowledge of project specifications and regulations.
  • Ability to build a professional network in appropriate construction-related marketplaces.
  • Proficiency with technology equipment and software and able to efficiently utilize software used by Duininck including Microsoft Office. Experience with Viewpoint, Bid2Win, AutoCAD, and/or Trimble Business software a plus.
  • Strong organization and detailed oriented skills.
  • Must be organized, self-motivated, and work well independently and as part of a group.
  • Must be a strong team player, able to work effectively with a variety of people, personalities, skills, and organizational levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform detailed tasks accurately.
  • Numerical skills.
  • Must be able to use verbal skills to talk with new vendors and subcontractors.
  • Comfortable taking personal responsibility to work efficiently and continuously improve the estimating processes.

Education and experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Engineering required or minimum 5 years of related field experience.
  • Field experience in golf construction is preferred.
  • Estimating experience in golf construction is preferred.
  • Enjoyment of the game of golf.

Physical requirements necessary in this role:

  • Regularly required to stand, sit, and move about the facility.
  • Able to lift objects up to 50 lbs.
  • Travel as required.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Able to work with various office technology, hardware, and software.
