Position Overview:

Now Hiring: Park Ranger/ Armed Security Officer

 

Schedule: Full-time and Part-Time positions available.

Friday- Tuesday 4:00 pm to 12:00 am (midnight)

 

Location: Nashville, TN

 

Compensation: $18.00 per hour

What you will be doing:

 

  • Open and close buildings as required by daily schedule or upon request of authorized persons.
  • Monitor fire, burglar, and panic alarms, respond to alarms, and arm and disarm buildings as required by daily schedule or upon request by authorized personnel.
  • Conduct rounds and patrol areas as directed.
  • Monitor buildings, grounds, and pathways for theft, fire, damage, or safety issues.
  • Control access to museum buildings, museum collections areas, and grounds.
  • Respond, investigate, and report on accidents and injuries incurred on The Hermitage property as directed by Chief of Security.
  • Provide special event traffic control, crowd control, and parking assistance as required.

 

What you will need:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Security officers must constantly maintain a valid state certification from the Department of Insurance and Commerce as an armed security officer with a directive to carry a weapon. Training is available.
  • Must have a valid Tennessee driver’s license.
  • Must maintain firearm training and certification, as well as certification in First Aid, CPR, and the use of AED’s.
  • Must be able to carry out detailed written or verbal instructions independently; demonstrate teamwork and good interpersonal skills; present a professional demeanor; and maintain confidentiality. Security officers must have basic computer skills in order to operate alarm systems.
  • Ability to perform moderate physical work, exerting up to 50 pounds of force unassisted; stoop, bend, climb, and lift; walk multiple miles during a shift; stand and sit for long periods of time; work outdoors in all weather conditions and extremes; and stay awake and alert for 12 hours at a time.
