Pharmacist Intern – Behavioral Health

Job Overview

This full-time, 10-week summer internship (June 3 – August 8, 2024) provides a unique opportunity for pharmacy students to gain hands-on experience in behavioral health and addiction treatment . Interns will work closely with experienced pharmacists as part of a coordinated care team to ensure that patients receive the right medications and adhere to their treatment plans.

📢 Relocation Support: Housing is provided for qualified candidates who are not local to the Fort Worth, TX area.

Key Responsibilities

• Dispense medications prescribed by physicians and healthcare providers.
• Educate patients about their medications, usage, and potential side effects.
• Assist with pharmacy operations , including processing insurance claims and maintaining patient records.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations set by the State Board of Pharmacy.
• Administer immunizations as allowed by state regulations.
• Protect patient data in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
• Participate in pharmacy initiatives that improve medication management and patient outcomes .

Required Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program , with P1 year completed before the internship start date.
• Active Pharmacist Intern License in the state of Texas .
• Eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

• 3.5+ cumulative GPA .
• Completion of at least one Therapeutics Course .
• Strong knowledge of medical and pharmacy terminology .
• Proven mathematical, analytical, and critical thinking skills .
• Excellent oral and written communication skills .
